DISCOVER THE SDGS - TO POWER THE DECADE OF ACTION

As 2020 marked a critical period to advance a shared vision, the Conscious Fashion Campaign launched Discover the SDGs - To Power the Decade of Action, a month-long virtual educational experience held in December 2020. Convened in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships, the goal was to advance knowledge and strengthen engagement from the global fashion industry to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Discover the SDGs virtual event was powered by Arch & Hook, Artistic Milliners, and Lenzing, and supported by Interwoven, ITL Group, and Orta. It explored the intersection of the Sustainable Development Goals and fashion, including climate action, gender equality, industry innovation, digitisation, life of land, and responsible consumption and production.

This is a critical time to accelerate partnerships to address the world’s biggest challenges – from eliminating poverty, hunger and inequalities to reversing climate change and unsustainable consumption and production practices. The fashion industry is an important ally for the United Nations in this Decade of Action to deliver the SDGs by 2030.
— Annemarie Hou, acting Executive Director, United Nations Office for Partnerships

COMMITMENT TO ACTION

In the continued effort to accelerate global fashion industry action in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Conscious Fashion Campaign provided virtual education during the COVID-19 pandemic to place the Sustainable Development Goals at the center of the conversation as the fashion sector adapted its priorities for recovery.

PARTNERSHIP

The Conscious Fashion Campaign and the United Nations Office for Partnerships curated informational tools specific to the Sustainable Development Goals and the fashion industry while co-creating discussions with industry leaders, United Nations representatives, and advocates to ensure that the COVID-19 pandemic would serve as a catalyst for a new sustainable era for all stakeholders in the fashion ecosystem..

The CFDA values its knowledge alliance with the Conscious Fashion Campaign - and especially appreciated the opportunity to engage within the Discover the SDG’s platform. Its unique on demand structure combined with the United Nations Office for Partnerships and Conscious Fashion Campaign’s global audience provided a meaningful expansion to the CFDA Sustainability Initiatives community providing amplification to the CFDA + Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Sustainability by Design: Rethinking NYFW Impact Report findings.
